For the Loaf:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

For the Glaze (optional):

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

    Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.

      Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes using an electric mixer.

        Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

          Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Start and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

            Fold in Apples: Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

              Prepare Cinnamon Swirl Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter. Mix until it forms a paste.

                Layer the Batter: Pour half of the apple batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly. Add the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the cinnamon swirl mixture, swirling once more for a marbled effect.

                      Prepare the Glaze (Optional): In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled loaf before serving.
