Ingredients

1 large loaf of crusty bread (such as Italian or French)

1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup of unsalted butter (1 stick), melted

4 cloves of garlic, minced

2 tablespoons of fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)

1 teaspoon of dried Italian herbs (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Bread: Place the loaf of bread on a cutting board. Using a serrated knife, make vertical cuts 1 inch apart, and then slice horizontally through the bread without cutting all the way through. This will create small segments that can be easily pulled apart.

Make the Garlic Butter Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.

Add the Cheese: In another bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Make sure to reserve a handful of cheese for topping later.

Stuff the Bread: Using a spoon or your fingers, carefully work the garlic butter mixture into the cuts of the bread. Be generous! Then, fill each cut with the cheese mixture, pushing the cheese into the crevices as much as possible.

Top with Extra Cheese: Sprinkle the reserved handful of cheese over the top of the loaf. If you like, sprinkle red pepper flakes for extra heat.

Wrap in Foil: Wrap the stuffed loaf in aluminum foil, sealing it tightly to keep the moisture inside.

Bake the Bread: Place the wrapped loaf on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15-20 minutes.

Unwrap and Toast: After baking, carefully unwrap the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes. This allows the top to get golden and crispy.

Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with more fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm, and enjoy pulling apart the cheesy garlic goodness!
