Ingredients

For the Brownies:

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Dulce de Leche Swirl:

1 cup store-bought or homemade dulce de leche

1 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.

    Make the Brownie Batter:

      - In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove it from the heat and stir in the granulated sugar until combined.

        - Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and stir until combined.

          - In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

            - Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

              Prepare for Swirling:

                - Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

                  - Spoon dollops of dulce de leche over the brownie batter, then use a knife or a skewer to create a swirl effect. Be careful not to cut all the way through to the bottom layer.

                    Add Remaining Batter:

                      - Pour the remaining brownie batter on top of the dulche de leche layer and smooth it out. Repeat the swirling process on top with more dollops of dulce de leche for an extra gooey finish.

                        Bake:

                          - Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Do not overbake as you want them to be fudgy!

                            Cooling & Serving:

                              - Once baked, allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes. If desired, sprinkle a little sea salt on top for a contrasting flavor.

                                - Once fully cooled, use the parchment paper to lift the brownies out of the pan. Cut into squares and serve.
