8 oz (225 g) spaghetti or linguine

2 cups broccoli florets

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 medium lemon, zested and juiced

1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package instructions until al dente. About 2 minutes before the pasta is done, add the broccoli florets to the pot. Drain pasta and broccoli together, reserving 1 cup of pasta water.

    Make the Garlic Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.

      Combine: Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the skillet. Toss to coat in the garlic oil.
