Chocolate chip cookies hold a special place in the hearts of many, transcending generations with their delightful aroma and comforting taste. First invented in the late 1930s by Ruth Wakefield, the chocolate chip cookie was born out of a simple desire to create a new dessert for her guests at the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts. The original recipe combined a rich, buttery dough with chunks of semi-sweet chocolate, resulting in a treat that quickly became a staple in American households and beyond. Today, chocolate chip cookies are not just a dessert; they symbolize warmth, nostalgia, and the joy of home baking.

Ingredients

For the crust:

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the cheesecake filling:

16 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 cup Nutella

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup heavy cream

For the ganache topping:

½ cup heavy cream

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

2 tbsp Nutella (for drizzling)

Sea salt (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x9 inch baking dish. Bake for 10-12 minutes until slightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool.

Make the cheesecake filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Gradually add in powdered sugar, continuing to mix until well blended. Add in Nutella, eggs, vanilla extract, and heavy cream. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated and smooth.

Combine and bake: Pour the cheesecake filling over the cooled crust, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still has a slight jiggle. Remove from the oven and let it cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Prepare the ganache: In a small saucepan over medium heat, bring ½ cup of heavy cream to a simmer. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate chips until melted and smooth. Allow the ganache to cool slightly.

Top the cheesecake: Pour the chocolate ganache over the cooled cheesecake layer, spreading it evenly. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of Nutella with a teaspoon of cream, then drizzle it over the ganache in a swirling pattern. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt for a touch of flavor.

Chill and cut: Refrigerate the entire dish for at least 4 hours, or until fully set. Once chilled, lift the cheesecake out using the edges of the parchment paper. Cut into squares or bars for serving.

Serve and enjoy: Plate the cheesecake bars and enjoy the rich, decadent flavor!
