Ingredients

3 to 4 pounds country-style pork ribs

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

2 teaspoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1/2 cup chicken broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Optional: fresh chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Ribs: Pat the country-style pork ribs dry with paper towels. Trim any excess fat to ensure they cook evenly and become tender.

Make the Rub: In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a spice rub.

Season the Ribs: Rub the olive oil all over the ribs, then generously apply the spice rub mixture, ensuring each piece is fully coated. For the best flavor, let the ribs marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight if possible.

Make the BBQ Sauce Mixture: In a separate bowl, mix the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, and Worcestershire sauce. This will be the cooking sauce to keep the ribs moist.

Set Up the Slow Cooker: Place the seasoned ribs in the slow cooker, stacking them if necessary. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated.

Cook the Ribs: Cover the slow cooker and set it to low heat. Cook for 6 to 8 hours, or until the ribs are tender and can easily be pulled apart with a fork.

Finishing Touch (Optional): If you like a caramelized finish, preheat your grill or oven broiler. Once the ribs are done in the slow cooker, carefully transfer them to a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Brush additional barbecue sauce on top and broil for 5–7 minutes, until bubbly and lightly charred.

Serve: Once ready, remove the ribs from the oven or grill. Let them rest for a few minutes before cutting into pieces. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side and garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
