Ingredients

1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon cold water (for thickening)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Steamed rice or quinoa (for serving)

Instructions

Blanch the Broccoli: In a pot of boiling salted water, add the broccoli florets and cook for 1-2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. Drain again and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and sesame oil. Set aside.

Cook the Shrimp: In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil. Once hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and opaque. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Incorporate Broccoli: Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet with the shrimp. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the mixture and stir to combine.

Thicken the Sauce: Mix the cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry. Add this to the skillet, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens, which should take around 1-2 minutes.

Serve: Remove from heat, and serve the honey garlic shrimp and broccoli over a bed of steamed rice or quinoa. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
